Happy to share Miriam Ringleb's paper (PhD Student from Wilhelm Bloch and Christian Puta) latest publication in The FASEB Journal!
In a comprehensive study comprising six separate meta-analyses, we examined 148 acute endurance exercise studies including a total of 3,622 participants.
We show that acute endurance exercise has a moderate to very large effect on the release of key immunoregulatory myokines, including IL-6, IL-10, IL-1ra, IL-8, IL-15, and TNF-α.
These effects were moderated by exercise duration and intensity, as well as by their combined effect, the exercise dose.
Given these immunomodulatory effects, endurance exercise should be a core component in the treatment of metabolic, cardiovascular, and mental health disorders.
