NASPSPA Conference 2025 in South Lake Tahoe

From June 3 to June 6, 2025, the Annual Conference of the North American Society for the Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity (NASPSPA) took place in South Lake Tahoe (USA). Members of the Department for the Psychology of Human Movement and Sport contributed one talk and three posters.

  • Florian Müller presented a recent study titled: How motives moderate spontaneous reactions to non-verbal dominance cues: Recording facial EMG in a soccer penalty scenario (Müller, Zöller & Cañal-Bruland).
  • Henrietta Weinberg presented results from a collaboration project with Rob Jackson (Loughborough University, UK) in a poster session: Decision-making in one-on-one situations in soccer: Skill level, deception and context affect evidence accumulation (Weinberg, Jackson & Cañal-Bruland).
  • Johannes Keck presented first results from the Momentum-Project: Predicting game outcomes in rock-paper-scissors: A kinematic approach to competitive social interactions (Keck, Sato & Cañal-Bruland).  
  • Likewise, Kazuyuki Sato presented a poster on first results from the Momentum-Project: The role of instructions in 1-on-1 collision avoidance interactions: A pilot case study (Sato, Keck & Cañal-Bruland). 

In addition, for this year's conference Rouwen Cañal-Bruland had the honor to serve on the "MLC (Motor Learning & Control) Committee". This included reviewing and selecting the abstracts as well as chairing a verbal session during the conference.
