Mona Saleh,PhD.

Mona Saleh has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of International Organizations at Friedrich Schiller University Jena since July 2026. She works on the DFG-funded project “VARICRIS: Crisis Variations and their Impact on International Organizations’ Governance Capacities,” which examines how different types and perceptions of transboundary crises affect the governance capacities of international organizations.

Her research focuses on institutional overlap, regional complexity, and peace and security governance. More broadly, she is interested in how institutional environments shape the authority, agency, and behaviour of international and regional organizations. Her regional expertise includes the African Union, ECOWAS, SADC, and the League of Arab States.

Before joining Friedrich Schiller University Jena, she was a research fellow at the Institute for Development and Peace at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She previously worked at Leuphana University Lüneburg and was an affiliated doctoral researcher at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies in Hamburg.
