Liberalism doomed the Liberal Order

In a thought-provoking article titled ‘Liberalism doomed the Liberal International Order’, published in Foreign Affairs, Christian Kreuder-Sonnen, Stacie E. Goddard, Ronald R. Krebs and Berthold Rittberger argue that the current decline of the Liberal International Order is a product of its own liberal principles, and call for a new approach rooted in pragmatism and pluralism. To back up their claim, the authors reexamine the trajectory of the order in terms of a path-dependent process that foreshadows its demise, and propose ways towards a more resilient and responsive world order.
