International Organizations under Pressure

The Chair of International Organisations is contributing three articles to the newly published forum “International Organisations under Pressure” in the Zeitschrift für Internationale Beziehungen (ZIB). In the introduction to the forum, editors Christian Kreuder-Sonnen and Gisela Hirschmann demonstrate the complex interconnections of the two research strands of IO contestation and crisis management (pp. 26-42). In the article “Handlungsfähige gesucht: Krisen- und Kontestationsmanagement internationaler Organisationen”, Kreuder-Sonnen and Stephanie C. Hoffmann examine the extent to which focal and non-focal Organisations vary in their contestation management in crises. In their article “Informelle intergouvernementale Organisationen in grenzüberschreitenden Krisen”, Steve Biedermann and Philip M. Tantow examine the conditions under which states act through Informal Intergovernmental Organizations (IIGOs) in transboundary crises.
