On 9 January 2023, the Lions Club JenaExternal link in cooperation with the Professorship of International Organizations held an event in the large Rosensaal of the University of Jena, inviting the club's sponsors and supporters who have donated to various charities. Club President Heiner Schmitz and Franziska Sandt, research associate at the Professorship of International Organizations at the Institute of Political Science at FSU Jena, opened the event with introductory remarks. The evening focused on international organizations and their tasks, especially the fight against hunger.

Als eingeladener Experte hielt Dr. Holger Matthey

As an invited expert, Dr. Holger Matthey, economist at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, gave a presentation on forecasting and market analysis in the agricultural sector. Dr. Matthey leads the FAO's Trade and Markets Department's Medium-Term Forecasting and Market Analysis team, which produces the annual Agricultural Outlook and examines the impact of emerging issues on global and national agricultural commodity markets. The presentation was listened to with great interest and applauded by the guests.

After the discussion between speakers and guests, the enjoyable evening ended with a cold buffet.
