  • Bachelor of Arts (Sports Management)

    The Bachelor of Arts (Sports Management) is an undergraduate university degree program. It consists of a core subject of 120 credits and a supplementary subject of 60 credits. The standard period of study is three years.

    Study conception

    The study in the core subject sport science, study field sports management is application-oriented. Fundamental in core subject-specific education is a theoretically sound introduction to an interdisciplinary range of subjects from the natural science, medical and social sciences of sports science. The courses on sport management and sports economics play an important part throughout the degree program. Key working and research methodical skills are taught in special courses as well as integrated teaching in different disciplines. In addition to theoretically oriented lessons, the course offers many opportunities for practical experience. These include modules with sports and movement practice as well as research units and the internship. The study qualifies for professional activities, especially through combination with the supplementary subject. In addition, it offers further academic qualification in a master's program in Sports Science and Management.

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)

    The Master of Business Administration is a vocational university degree. The MBA program comprises a total of 240 contact hours. Block events are offered on 12 weekends from Friday to Sunday. The standard period of study is two years.

    The MBA Sports Management offers a base in business core subjects such as marketing, human resources, accounting, finance and investment accounting and deepens these in the relevant subjects of sports management as well as in courses that connect the sport with other areas of the service sector. Well-known lecturers from the field and renowned lecturers from science take over the modules corresponding to their area of expertise. In the context of case studies, transfer days and chimney evenings, the application of the theory in practice is taught directly. Current problems from the practice are taken up and solutions are developed together. For chimney evenings, representatives from business, politics and sports organizations are invited regularly to answer questions in a relaxed atmosphere. In addition, in a project module, the knowledge acquired in the course of study is applied and deepened in one's own everyday professional life.

    The Bachelor Degree Program Sports Science is an Applied Sports Science Program. The aim of the program is to qualify for a wide range of activities in the field of sport and its environment. Fundamental is a theoretically founded and practically oriented education with a wide range of sports (Applied Sports Science) and the introduction in an interdisciplinary range of subjects from the scientific-medical and social-behavioral sciences as well as economic fields. In specially organized events as well as in other courses of study, general and subject-specific key qualifications are created or developed. In addition to theoretically oriented lessons, the course offers many opportunities for practical experience. The basic knowledge acquired in the bachelor's program in the training science, pedagogical, sports medicine, movement science, psychomotor and economic sectors offer a variety of employment opportunities. In particular, the degree named above for further scientific qualification in a master's program. In the areas of prevention and rehabilitation, fitness, competitive sports and recreational sports (including senior sport), the first qualification level is achieved and acquired or is the basis of the continuation / recognition by the professional associations (licenses).

    Study conception

    The aim of this master's program is to prepare the students for research-oriented and science-based professional activities or to lay the foundation for further qualifications within or outside the university with subject-specific training.

    The students acquire in-depth knowledge of the subject theory and methodology of the sport-scientific areas (applied sports science, exercise science, movement science, sports medicine, sports psychology and motor skills, sports economics, sports education) as well as their integration areas.

    After successfully completing their studies, students have the specialist and interdisciplinary key qualifications (including social skills, teamwork, scientific representation, project organization) that are required for a research-oriented and science-based field. They are qualified to develop and implement subject-specific research concepts. In doing so, they show that they are capable of critically classifying scientific findings, thinking in an interdisciplinary manner and acting responsibly, as well as analyzing complex issues of sports science across disciplines, interpreting findings and working out solutions.

     

  • Teaching (Jenaplan) (Sports Science)

    The Teacher Training (Sports Science) is an undergraduate university degree program. A total of 300 credit points (ECTS CP) are acquired in the Teacher Training Program. The standard period of study is five years.

    In general, an introductory internship of 320 hours must be approved at the beginning of the study.

    The aim of the study is the scientific, motor sports and sport didactic ability for the education of sports. Scientific competences are acquired throughout the modules. This enables the candidate to continue his or her training in the teacher training preparatory service (second phase).
