The last five years have seen a fundamental shift in the relationship between governance and the technology industry. From a distant and distortive projection screen on which capitalism could resolve internal contradictions, the tech industry became integral to the logic of capitalist governance. This lecture investigates what has become of the ‘California Ideology’ at a historical moment at which it has become absolutely dominant and its ability to seduce has been broken at the same time.
