Participatory lesson planning

Participation is now considered a key element of high-quality teaching, yet in everyday school life it often falls short of its potential. For this reason, every teacher should ask themselves: How much say do my students actually have in class, and how can I give them more responsibility for their own learning?

This online course invites you not only to understand participation as a theoretical concept, but also to learn concrete ways in which it can be implemented in class. More specifically, you will first gain a general understanding of the terminology. This will be followed by an in-depth exploration of the implementation possibilities and effects of participatory classroom cultures from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Finally, the key points will be summarized, and you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on them.

The online course 'Participatory Classroom Design' is freely accessible. The direct link takes you straight to the course page on the Virtual Campus Thuringia (VCT). Upon successful completion of the course, you have the option to receive a certificate of participation.
