Here you will find all the important information and tips on studying Psychology as a minor subject.
In the first year of study|academic year, you will gain an insight into Psychology and learn the basicmethods that are so important in this subject. You will also learn the basics of various cognitive, motivational and emotional processes. You will be able to apply and test the methodological knowledge and subject-specific study techniques you have acquired (literature research in specialised databases, empirical work, computer-aided data analysis, presentation of findings). You will also experience scientific work for yourself by participating in psychological studies.
In the second and third year of study|academic year, you will choose different focuses from the following basic subjects of Psychology, tailored to your major subject:
From the third year of study|academic year, the basic knowledge acquired is expanded in application subjects and transferred to professionally relevant contexts. You choose a focus from the following application modules:

With subject hours you prove that you have participated in scientific research at the university as a subject.
To complete the General Psychology module (PsyN-P2), you must collect a total of 10 subject hours. To do this, you will take part in psychological studies. These will be announced online (via the e-mail distribution list de or the Vph serverExternal link), at the Institute of Psychology or in lectures.
It is recommended (not mandatory) to complete the subject hours within the first year of study|academic year.
Proof|evidence of the hours is provided via the so-called Testatkarte. Please download the certificatepdf, 198 kb · de card and document all subject hours according to the instructions. Finally, please send the completed testat card to the department's Administrative Assistant(sekretariat.jugendforschung@uni-jena.de). Please save a copy for your records!
