Study organisation

  • Which Psychology courses are useful at the beginning of the complementary subject programme?

    Compulsory module: Introduction and Methods of Psychology (PsyN-P1), consisting of:

    • Lecture "Introduction to Psychology"
    • Lecture "Methods of Psychology"
    • optional, accompanying tutorial

    In addition, you can already start collecting subject hours. You will be admitted to seminars from the 2nd semester at the earliest.

  • How do I register for the right events?

    You can register for the courses under the menu item "Request modules" in FriedolinExternal link. You can use the course number in the module catalogueExternal link as a guide.

  • How are credits or ECTS earned in the supplementary subject?

    Lectures are usually completed or passed with an examination in the form of an invigilated) written examination|exam. Certificates of achievement in seminars are presentations, seminar papers (to be written at home), research reports or similar. They are usually set by the responsible teacher.

  • Do I have to complete a practical module (internship) in the supplementary subject?

    No, you do not have to complete a practical module in the supplementary subject Psychology.

  • What happens after the B.A. programme in Psychology as a supplementary subject and what options do I have?

    As a rule, you do not meet the admission criteria for master's degree programmes in Psychology by studying a supplementary subject. There are individual non-consecutive master's programmes that also teach psychological content. Whether you fulfil the admission criteria for these depends on your chosen major subject.

Examination dates and results

  • Where can I find out the examination dates?

    The examination dates can be found in FriedolinExternal link under the button "Register for examination". Further information is available in the respective courses and from the Examinations Office responsible for you.

  • Where can I register for the invigilated) written examination|exams?

    You can register for the invigilated examinations in FriedolinExternal link by clicking on "Register for examination". You will also be informed about the registration requirements in the individual courses.

    Please note that registration and admission to a course does not mean that you have successfully registered for the examination. Examination registration is separate from course registration.

  • Where can I find the exam results?

    You can find your examination results in FriedolinExternal link under the respective examination, where you can also display all grades by clicking on "Notenspiegel".

  • Where and when can I view my (invigilated) written examination|exam?

    If you would like to view your (invigilated) written examination|exam, please contact the Administrative Assistant in writing by email, stating your student ID number: stefanie.glaeser@uni-jena.de.

  • Until when can I deregister from an examination?

    The deadline for exam registration and deregistration is usually 10 weeks. Please check the FriedolinExternal link homepage on the right-hand side under "Akutelle Hinweise" to find out when the deadline for the respective semester ends. Please register for examinations in good time so that there is time for any queries you may have.

  • I am ill on the day of the exam. What do I have to do?

    If you are ill on the day of the exam, please submit a full proposal for exam withdrawal (general application form) together with the original medical certificate to the ASPA de. The full proposal must be submitted without undue delay (no later than three working days after becoming aware of the illness). You must be able to prove that it has been sent to the post office by the deadline (postmark, consignment tracking).

    If the withdrawal(s) is/are approved, the corresponding examination attempt(s) will be noted in Friedolin with "RAT" (recognised withdrawal). All examinations that fall within the period of your recognised|to credit sick leave will be booked with "RAT" (recognised withdrawal).

  • I have failed an examination at the 2nd attempt. What can I do to continue studying the subject?

    It is possible to submit a full proposal for a third attempt to the General Examinations Committee.

    An application for a third attempt must be submitted to the Academic Office for Student Affairs and Examinations (ASPA) by the announced deadlines, which can be found under the menu item General Examination BoardExternal link on the ASPA homepage. The full proposal must contain a comprehensive reason (individual situation justification) and complete evidence/factual evidence (e.g. medical assessment|assessment report|review, official confirmations, etc.). Incomplete application documents will be charged to the applicant.

    If it is a required elective module, this can also be exchanged once per subject.

Subject hours

  • Can I also acquire subject hours in examinations in a subject other than Psychology?

    If there is a clear reference to psychological issues, some of the subject hours can also be acquired in other departments.

  • Where can I find out about trials where I can collect volunteer hours?

    Information on examinations can be found via the FSR Psychology e-mail distribution listExternal link and the so-called Vph serverExternal link. In addition, information is provided in lectures, on notices in the Institute of Psychology and on flyers in the university) canteens and cafeterias.

  • Where do I have to hand in my test certificate for trial hours?

    Please submit the completed test card for the documentation of the test subject hours via e-mail to the Administrative Assistant of the Youth Research Unit (sekretariat.jugendforschung@uni-jena.de).
